How to find movers ?

Question

How can I find a reliable mover that will still be affordable? we’re planning to move in June from California to Texas for my husband’s work (they gave us a budget for the move but we’d like to keep it minimal so we can cover all the expenses). So we need a moving company that would not charge an arm and a leg for this.

Answer

Pricing for moving will vary from one company to another, although most movers normally work by a pretty standard basic tariff. You can use one of the Movers Directories listed in the this link to receive several free quotes in one submission with no obligation.
For tips on better understanding the quotes that you receive and the services that they include, read the following article.

How do I know if I have enough coverage for my valuables?

Moving companies are required to include basic valuation at no additional cost, which provides only limited protection for your shipment: the mover’s liability is up to 60 cents per pound per article (depends on the state, it can be up to 30 cents per pound per article for local moves and no more than 60 cents per pound per article for long distance relocations). Check with your mover the options that are available for you to purchase additional insurance coverage and check with your home-owner/rental insurance as well if they would cover damages or loss.
